Four days from Roman Tunisia to the Sahara
Mystic Tunisia is a 4-day tour from Tunis to the south of the country. You travel from the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem to the troglodyte homes of Matmata, the Berber villages of Chenini and Douiret, a night in a Sahara desert camp and the mountain oases around Tozeur, before returning to Tunis via Kairouan.
Along the way, you visit several Star Wars filming locations, including Sidi Idriss, Ksar Hadada and the Mos Espa set near Ong Jmal.

Day 1Ancient Wonders, Troglodyte Homes & Star Wars
Begin your journey from Tunis with a visit to El Jem Amphitheatre, a spectacular Roman monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its impressive architecture and fascinating history. Continue to Matmata, famous for its unique underground troglodyte homes, offering a glimpse into traditional Berber architecture. Visit Sidi Idriss, the famous troglodyte hotel and iconic Star Wars filming location. Continue to Ksar Hadada, an ancient Berber granary featuring distinctive stacked ghorfas and another memorable Star Wars filming location.
Day 2Berber Villages & Desert Adventure
After breakfast, discover Douiret, a picturesque ancient Berber village perched dramatically in the surrounding mountains. Continue to Chenini, one of southern Tunisia's most iconic Berber villages, known for its ancient dwellings, mountain setting and Mosque of the Seven Sleepers. Continue towards Douz, before embarking on an exciting 4x4 adventure through the desert towards Tembaine, crossing vast dunes and remote desert landscapes. Arrive at Camp Abdelmoula Tembaine, an authentic desert camp nestled among the golden dunes.
Day 3Sahara Landscapes & Star Wars Magic
After breakfast, continue your 4x4 adventure through the Sahara, travelling across the dunes towards Douz. Discover Chott El Jerid, Tunisia's immense salt lake, famous for its shimmering mirages and surreal landscapes. Continue to Ong Jmal and the nearby Mos Espa filming site, where the dramatic desert scenery brings the world of Star Wars to life. Explore the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza, with their lush palm groves, canyons and waterfalls contrasting beautifully with the surrounding desert.
Day 4Tozeur, Kairouan & Journey's End
After breakfast, explore the Medina of Tozeur, known for its distinctive brick architecture and traditional palm-wood doors. Continue to Kairouan, one of the oldest Islamic cities in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through its atmospheric medina, traditional souks and historic streets. Continue the journey back to Tunis, marking the end of this unforgettable adventure through Tunisia's history, desert landscapes and Star Wars heritage.
