Eight days from the Mediterranean to the Sahara
Tunisia in Depth is an 8-day tour covering the essentials of Tunisia. From Tunis, Carthage and Sidi Bou Said, you follow the eastern coast to Monastir and the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem, then head south to Matmata, a night in a Sahara desert camp, Tozeur and the mountain oases of Chebika, Tamerza and Mides, before returning north via Kairouan to Hammamet.
Along the way, you enjoy local experiences (a Tunisian cooking class, mosaic-making in El Jem, a date tasting at Eden Palm and a Makroudh workshop in Kairouan) and visit several Star Wars filming locations, including Sidi Idriss and Mos Espa.

Day 1Arrival in Tunisia
Your Tunisian adventure begins with your arrival in Tunis and a warm welcome at the airport. Settle into your hotel and take your first moments to relax and discover the atmosphere of the capital.
Day 2The Charms of Tunis, Carthage & Sidi Bou Said
Explore the lively Central Market and the enchanting Medina of Tunis, where historic palaces, souks and traditional craftsmanship bring the old city to life. Discover the secrets of Tunisian cuisine through a hands-on cooking experience before continuing to the ancient ruins of Carthage and the iconic blue-and-white village of Sidi Bou Said.
Day 3Monastir & El Jem
Journey along Tunisia's eastern coast to Monastir and discover its rich heritage, including the impressive Ribat overlooking the sea. Continue to El Jem and marvel at its spectacular Roman amphitheatre before discovering the art of traditional Tunisian mosaic-making.
Day 4Matmata, Star Wars & The Sahara
Enter the landscapes of southern Tunisia and discover the fascinating troglodyte homes of Matmata, including the legendary Sidi Idriss, made famous by Star Wars. From Douz, venture deep into the Sahara by 4x4, crossing the desert towards Tembaine for an unforgettable night beneath the vast desert sky.
Day 5Desert Landscapes & The Oasis of Tozeur
Continue your Sahara adventure by 4x4 before reaching Douz and the spectacular salt landscapes of Chott El Jerid. Arrive in Tozeur and explore its distinctive old town, then discover the traditions of the date-growing oasis at Eden Palm through its museum and a tasting of local dates and palm products.
Day 6Mountain Oases & Star Wars Landscapes
Discover the cultural treasures of Tozeur before venturing into the dramatic mountain landscapes of western Tunisia. Explore the oasis villages of Chebika, Tamerza and Mides, where waterfalls, canyons and palm-filled valleys contrast beautifully with the surrounding desert. End the day at Ong Jmal and the legendary Mos Espa, another unforgettable Star Wars setting.
Day 7Kairouan & The Flavours of Tunisia
Journey back towards northern Tunisia through Kairouan, one of the country's most important historic cities. Discover its magnificent Great Mosque and atmospheric Medina before experiencing one of Tunisia's most famous culinary traditions through a Makroudh-making workshop with local artisans. Continue towards the Mediterranean coast and the relaxed atmosphere of Hammamet.
Day 8Farewell to Tunisian Beauty
Enjoy your final moments in Tunisia before your transfer to the airport, bringing your journey through ancient cities, desert landscapes and authentic local experiences to an end.
